Friday Poetic Pointer

For the many, who at this time of year may find themselves in this predicament.

Homeless

We search high we search low

Our problems we own; confess

No need to put on a show

As we are the homeless

How did we get here

Anyone hazard a guess?

We are normal; you have nothing to fear

But we are still homeless

Out on the streets: this is our home

We try to make it our best

Finding the right place; takes time to roam

But there you have it: we’re still homeless

We locate the large shop front

Try to find warmth among the mess

When we roam we also hunt

There’s no other way when you’re homeless

The light draws in anytime soon

Ready to face the cold night-time test

Sometimes when I look at the moon

It tells me ‘your outside and your homeless’

The boxes surround me as I snuggle in

I’m not a bird; but I’m in my own nest

I don’t mind being near the bins

As I accept my status as being homeless

In the morning hope reins supreme

A Samaritan makes an offer: I say yes

On my withered, tired face a smile beams

Just maybe, I’ll no longer be homeless

I dream of this for everyone one I know

I speak from the heart; not in jest

We all need the help: tackled blow by blow

Maybe one day they’ll fewer of us homeless

70th Heaven – The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

In memory of the longest serving monarch in British history here is one way to remember our Elizabeth – “The Queen of all Hearts”

70 years later we are ready for another celebration. A date set for all the of the uk. A time to come together a one nation. This is my small take for a poetic viewpoint.

Windfall/Rush

74 years ago today the UK asked for help from the commonwealth to help rebuild the country Great Britain after the 2nd world war. The Jamaicans who responded to the call had no idea what they were sailing into as they arrived on the ‘Windrush’.

Many people i know knew people who came on that earlier transport and the struggle that begin for everyone since. A small gesture maybe now is displayed at Waterloo station in London to commentate and remind us all of what was and still is sacrificed considering the poor treatment of many of those who answered that call and hopefully still remain here in the UK today.

Here is my simple poetic piece on this topic of, endurance, patience, belief and the ultimate continuation to try at and go for triumph over the odds.

Windfall /Rush

They asked for our help
And we answered that call
Our mothers and fathers took their leave
Being sold the idea of a windfall

They travelled across the seas
Seeking a new future for all
Working tirelessly for the last 74 years
Still wondering where is that windfall

And now after all this time
The governing hands have ‘dropped the ball’
Losing our parental identification we ask how?
So is it time to forget about that windfall?

With honesty and integrity our parents left their homes
Diligent, and obedient working across buses, trains, and shopping malls
Helping to build a life in Britain now their home
Shouldn’t those in charge be now handing out that Windfall?

Anyone working for so long after being asked to help
Should not be treated with such shameful contempt
I truly hope our Windrush generation
Get that windfall and a message of apologies needs to be sent…

My 12 Days of Christmas…

The Partridge is stuck in a tree

What should we do?

Sing a song, get down one knee?

I could swear I did see two

—-

Oops, sorry that was the Turtle Doves

Yes, there are two of those

Christmas is something everyone loves

Some Turkey and garlic of cloves?

—-

Non! Say the French.

It has to be the trois hens

Don’t agree, be left on the bench

Watch them eat; only through your lens

—-

No fear though,

The four birds outside are calling

Joined by a man, saying, ho, ho, ho

On a sleigh, in the sky, now falling

—-

You throw him five golden rings

Santa needs presents too

Bet you didn’t know he can really sing

There’s so much more he can do

—-

Work his magic on the geese

All six of them lay eggs

The golden ovals represent signs of peace

At this time; no one should ever need to beg

—-

But the water is cold

And the seven swans keep swimming

Wrap up warm, don’t be bold

And your cupboards will be brimming

—-

The eight maids will provide the milk

There’s plenty to go around

Frankincense is replaced by silk

Your footing is now solid, sound

—-

As you celebrate this time of year

And watch nine ladies dance

The ones you love for and care

Surround us and join in the prance

—-

On tiptoes so you can join in

In the circle with the ten lords leaping

Did they have a few shots of Gin?

No, its okay, its all part of the meeting

—-

Moving and swaying to the piper’s tune

The eleven pipe as best they can

Sometime, later that afternoon

They heard the beat of the drumming man

—-

Twelve to be exact

Drumming, drum, drum

Twelve days is a long time to keep up this act

So I say to you all; just go out and have some fun!

Stage 4 ‘nearly there'(for the season) Day 23

Chilling in my room

Waiting for the day

Listening to Christmas sonic booms

As I shade from sun, reminding me of May…

Stage 4 ‘final prep’ (for the season) Day 22

As we party into the night

Celebrate the time and season

Everything will be just right

When we get ‘that gift’ for a reason
Anticipation reins supreme

The annual lesson repeats

When we awake will it be a dream?

Or will Expectations be delivered right to our feet?…

Stage 4 ‘ready and waiting’ (for the season) Day 21

Let’s hunker around the t.v.

Grab a drink, maybe some beer or wine

Christmas equals everyone and me

Celebrating the season is divine…

Stage 4 ‘ready as we go’ (for the season) Day 20

Lie back look to the stars in hope

To the 3 kings  we watch and wait

Gifts aplenty journey towards the gate ajar,

It’s the opportunity to open our hearts

The Bethlehem of now says ‘welcome’

Room is offered to everyone in need

At this Christmas time maybe no one will go without a feed…

Stage 3 ‘Readily..’ (for the season) Day 16

ticking-along

Time to get your things

Time to pray and give thanks

Time now for the choir to sing

Time to make those xmas plans

Time to figure out if you believe

Time to remain above the fray

Time to give and hopefully receive

Time to celebrate The Christmas Day?

Stage 3 ‘readiness factor'(for the season) Day 15

20151112_154202

Size isn’t everything you’re told

Its  the intent of the gift that matters,

When you get an age,

Where stuffed toys dance on stage

You scream so loud that glass shatters..
