No Shower in the Tower

Our first family trip to Blackpool was a ‘roasting’ success,  with southern Spain style temperatures being delivered over our weekend. The amazing circus display was simply magnificent.  The sealife centre, thrilling, educational,  interesting and exciting for parents and our two children alike. The walks along tbe south pier until gone 1030pm, summed up how holidaying on the uk coast can be enjoyed,  particularly with near 30 degree heat!

Our hotel, smart, friendly,  helpful and family orientated with a touch of class and great food, all within a stones throw of the tram and bus service that ran along the Promenade. Directly behind our hotel stood the Pleasure Beach. This, a mammoth selection of roller coaster rides for the brave and some others for the less thrill seeking, chilled  riders and of course rides for children. Our two loved the car rides, the train that took us throughout the pleasure beach (a good distance I might add) as the area was huge to cover on foot.

All in all a surprising,  entertaining,  well stocked 3 day break, with superb weather,  activities for all, lovely hotel (with great family rooms too for your children and adults,  plenty of space for 4 separate area for kids bunk beds). Would we go again? Our children replied by saying they want 4 days next time! Well entertainment is guaranteed,  weather,  well someone else has that power I’m afraid….so in poetic homage to our weekend away here is a little ditty.

Brilliant sunshine won the day

Lazing about with my family,  what more can I say

An amazing time was had by all

Circus stupendous we certainly had a ball

Kicking our heels we weren’t for sure

Pleasure beach in the sun- could we ask for more?

Organised views with so much to see

Oh how we were tempted, oh how we were teased

Leaving ‘the pool’ our children wanted to stay

They loved every minute, of every single day

Only the call of those darn 2p machines

Would allow us to bribe them, to eat up their greens!

Evening would come and we’d be ready for bed

Remembering a fun filled enjoyable time – enough said!

MESS! (inspired by my daughter Mia)

Pretext

My  daughter is 7 years old and  whilst we are on a school term break, she has to learn and recite from memory a poem she chosen from several handed out by her class teacher. she chose beautifully written poem called Yuck. Here I attempt (in my own innocent style) a similar themed prose that tries to hit the same marks, based on the inspired choice ( I might add) of poem originally selected. Here goes…

MESS!

You all have to learn to wipe

When you visit the loo

I’m fed up of getting my hands

Anywhere near your poo…

You’ve just eaten some raw egg

Now a mouth full of jam, stale milk and beans

I can see that you’re about to cough

And I know just what that means

A shower of yuckie food

Flying through the air

Luckily I moved just in time

The MESS only caught my hair!

Looking after all of you

Involves a lot of stress

It doesn’t mean I don’t love you

I could do without the MESS!

Marvel (ous) Universe Begins- Part 1

The Strength of the HULK

The speed of IRON MAN

To beat you to a pulp

Or crush you like a tin can

The God-like power of the THOR

The return of CAPTAIN AMERICA’s Steve

The action, never will it bore

Or make you want to get up and leave

The mind altering prowess of XAVIER

The cutting, sharpness of the WOLVERINE

Could Charles be mankind’s ultimate saviour?

A showstopper if put on our screens…

Would Jean Grey ‘lift’ our wilting mood

Could MAGNETO ‘attract’ our me(n)tal attention?

If they had children  – what an awesome brood

The road to mutant revolution or cessation?

Eye wonder how CYCLOPS sees things?

The intelligent BEAST would confur maybe?

The future is here for super human beings

Shield’s response would be swift and scathing?

What does Fury know

You understand he could be mimicked by Raven

Her effervescent  camouflage never shows

As she cleverly hides inside her own little haven

Sticking to our human nature we look to the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Is he related to the mysterious BLACK WIDOW?

He lives in an apartment no bigger than a tin can

This Russian keeps secrets she wants no one else to know

Apparently an apocalyptic event is upon us

Will we be rescued and at what cost?

A few mum’s and Dad’s with some extra Vitamin B+?

I’m waiting to be saved by a certain Emma Frost….

The Tree (it’s starting to look a lot like…)

The Tree…

So December arrives

What does it mean?

We count down the days

Oh yes, we’re really keen

The garden centre beckons

Another arduous trip

Never mind the madding crowds

But watch the ice, in case you slip

You view fifty trees

They all look the same

In frustration you pick the first one

It’s the annual run around game

Now into the car

You bend, twist, and shove

Eating needles you hadn’t planned on

Once in, you raise your eyes up above

With ease you bring it home

Stand back –  look at your icon with pride

Until you notice something is missing

You now want to run away and hide

Never mind, a job is done

The family will be pleased

No concern about the lopsided tree

Or being continually teased and teased…

Christmas MEAT (ING)…

Stuff the Turkey

Roast the Chicken

Goose fat ‘tatoes are murky

Tasty though, they’re finger lickin’

Luscious leg of Lamb

Georgous side of Gammon

Sausages wrapped in ham

Oh, and don’t forget the freshly caught Salmon

Pluck the Pheasant, Goose or Duck

Tantalise taste buds with some wine based jus

Order now, or be out of luck

Supplant the potatoes  with Cous Cous?

Not just meat, we all need greens

Broccoli and Brussels light up our plate

The earth will be a better place to be seen

In the global food climate debate

Add some carrots, roast parsnips too

Compliment the diet with a variety in types of sauce

A tender cut of beautiful Beef wont make you moo

Just make sure that your’e not eating horse…

Complete your prep, with a sweet tooth in mind

Cream, pastry, chocolate are on the festive menu

Look hard enough and I’m sure you’ll find

Some of us searching for the loo!

Christmas is now around the bend

Prepare well, include plenty of seating

Seek out the tablets to put you on the mend

As you partake in your chosen Christmas MEAT (ing)!

Starting School

When your 4 years old or nearly 5

You have to take a big step

Your next leap makes you feel alive

And fills you up with Pep

So get your school uniform on

Get those shoes polished and shining

It’s time to get ready- get gone

No time to get wingeing and whining

Mum and dad will look after you

Your new teachers will make sure you’re okay

You’ll make new friends- yes your very own crew

You’ll be beeming by the end of the school day

Take comfort you’re not the only one

Remember millions play by the same rules

Make sure you learn to have fun

As you cross the line by starting school
